About RC Bumper Cars

The “RC” in RC bumper cars or RC aircrafts is often thought to refer solely to “remote control”. However, in RC bumper cars and aircrafts, these more accurately mean “radio control”. The difference between the two is that while remote control cars use wires between the car and the control, radio control does not. Instead, it relies on radio frequencies to transmit commands from the control to the car.
RC cars can either be hobby grade or toy grade. Hobby grade cars are the bigger and more expensive versions of RC cars that are driven by small but powerful electric motors powered by rechargeable nickel cadmium or lithium batteries. Some even have small internal combustion engines using mixtures of nitromethane, methanol, and oil for fuel. These are usually highly specialized with fully functioning steering and suspension systems.
RC bumper cars fall within the toy category, and are far less costly than the hobby grades. They are intended for children ages four to sixty-four and are far simpler in construction and operation. Some models that are slightly more sophisticated, however, are sometimes recommended for children who are a little older.
Sizes can vary from a small 6 x 4 x 4 inches, to a larger 12 x 6 x 6. They are often made of hard plastic making them lightweight but sufficiently durable and tough to withstand collisions and crashes. Because they are light, small motors can propel them forward with enough force to stop an oncoming RC bumper car. Motors draw power from either dry cell or rechargeable batteries, usually size AAA batteries.
Some models are replicas of real bumper cars, while others have futuristic designs. Most of them have very colorful parts undoubtedly intended to attract the attention of children. They also feature flashing lights and sounds mimicking car crashes to make the experience even better.
